Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Introduction:

• The department of OG at TKMCH was started in the year 2000 and now  we cater the medical needs of 24,911 OP  & 9,077 IP patients annually .
• We deliver quality and compassionate care for the best outcome for our pregnant women along with regular antenatal care. Focused care is given for high risk pregnancies.
• Our Laqshya certified labour rooms and OT’s are managed 24 x 7 by qualified experienced team of doctors , nurses and paramedical staffs along with anesthetist and neonatologist .
• Approximately 6000 deliveries per year with an average of  450-500  per month.
• Serves as a referral centre for about 25 PHCs and 7 GH  including two CEmONC centres and private nursing homes.

OBSTETRIC SERVICES

• AN care and conduct of delivery by SBA
• Management of high risk pregnancies
• AN fetal surveillance
• First trimester screening and aneupliody screening
• Painless labour services
• Availability of high dependency unit
• Post natal follow-up and contraception

Gynaecological Procedures

• We provide comprehensive services for the reproductive health and gynecological needs of women.
• Routine cancer screening and pap smear
• Colposcopy guided biopsy and thermo coagulation done as outpatient procedure .
• Abdominal hysterectomy, laproscopic hysterectomy and gynecological surgeries are performed routinely .
• Others – laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy , myomectomy , adhesiolysis , polypectomy , diagnostic laparoscopy and hysteroscopy,sling surgeries , vaginal septoplasty.

Family Welfare Services

• Our family welfare team offer counselling and a cafeteria
• Approach  for temporary contraception – Oc pills, Antara, IUCD insertion
• Permanent sterilization and laparoscopic tubectomy is done
• Ours is a PG institute with an uptake of 6 postgraduate  students ( MS OG )per year and faculties in the  department are actively involved in continuous  professional development including research activities.
